]Dogon Female Couple (own collection) The Dogon are located in Mali amd one the most interesting tribes in relation to afrcian tribal art but also culture. They live on the cliffs of Bandiagara, a remote area high in the hills. Their villages are on steep mountain cliffs, so protecting them from outside influences for quite a long time. That is one of the majour reasons why tzhe original culture is still alive in that area. The Dogon peoples came to to the cliffs of Bandiagara from the Mossi kingdom in the XIV century, fleeing themselves and finding protection in the cliff area. Their is quite a wide spectrum of Dogon tribal art, well know are also the animal masks.[
